| About the Yea Wetlands Committee |
|
The Yea Wetlands Committee of Managment was established by the Murrindindi Shire Council in September 2002. The Committee is constituted as a section 86 Commmittee of Murrindindi Council under the Local Government Act and has an agreed deed with Council to protect, manage and enhance the wetlands. Council itself is a Committee of Management with responsibilities to the Department of Sustainability and Environment who manages an area of some 34ha of crown land on the Yea River Floodplain on behalf of the Victorian Government. The area managed lies both north and south of the Goulburn Valley Highway immediately east of the Township. |
